Here I Am.....

..... all married and honeymooned and aged and wizened beyond my years! Okay the last bit was perhaps an exaggeration - at least my Mom and her son-in-law would have thought so, but thats besides the point. The point is that I'm back from an enormous life-changing event, and as it behoves , I thought I might generally share the light of my enlightenment by giving you guys some useful married gyan.

Ok ok come back, now don't run off. Just kidding people! Relax. Hehe ;D

The point is that I want to let you guys know how intensely good I'm feeling typing out these lines here - it is almost the first sign of normalcy in myself and the situations around me that I'm seeing in a long time. And I mean a loooooooooong time! I seem to have jumped a massive time loop in a matter of just 2 weeks. But more on this later. I'm trying to sequentially outline the marriage/wedding experience here, for the benefit of nosey ones who insisted on updates. So here you go:

1. A month before the wedding: In the middle of wedding preps, hectic scheduling and rescheduling of the events, invites, shopping, the works. General state of mind - excited, breezy, slightly nervous, horny (yes!) and overall floating, relaxed, all's-going-to-be-well-with-the-world cloud nine bliss.

2. A week before the wedding: In the THICK of wedding preps, last-minute decision-making and arrangements, reviews, arguments and all kinds of practical and bogus crap. General state of mind - suicidal, why-did-I-ever-agree-to-commit-to-this cloud nano dips.

3. Wedding eve: "Relax relax. Its not going to be as bad as you imagine. Everything will be fine. Just relax okay."

4. Wedding day: Bundle of nerves. Barbed wire. Total touch me not. AND preach me not. Do only and exactly as I say, or be ready to face the fire. Okay? Okay. Smile please! Namastey.

5.Vidaai: Sad, happy, sombre, expectant, anxious, nervous, clingy. Resolute on not crying and demonstrating self to be a weakling. Order Mom, Aunts and Siblings to not accompany self downstairs. Take pity and relent. Merry-go-round of Bharat-milaaps. Suddenly spot Mom and Aunt sneakily shedding tears in a corner. Infuriated at this conspiracy to expose the self's soft spot. Try flinging authoritative reproaches and rebukes. And instantly crumple into a mass of tears and pitiful wails. Most embarrassing.

6. The wedding week: Totally zonked where-am-I-and-why-am-I-here blankness. With intermittent bursts of grins and coy new-bride smiles. An hour of crying in the shower. Liquid eyes and shaky voice at meal times. Crying myself to sleep for the first two nights, which brings us to

7. The Wedding Night: Ahem! Sleepy, apprehensive and vaguely excited. Monsieur all agog with excitement and anticipation, but also very considerate. Sweet!..... Awkward silence in the room prompted by the pomp and ceremony. Ridiculously funny. Realise this and laugh. Ice broken. Lights out! ;D

8. The morning after: La la la la la la la! OMG! La la la la la la la! OMG! Unbelievable - I'm irretrievably grown-up now! Goodness!

9. The Honeymoon: What honeymoon? More like a trekking expedition. Or a trip to paradise. Beautiful place, good food, early nights, late mornings, and a stomach upset or two. Nice.

10. Post-honeymoon: Rest. Office. And still trying to reconcile self to the fact that self is really married now. Go figure!

Mystery Unveiled...

Ever wondered why Srin never changes her profile picture on Orkut...yes, the misleading one where she is posing as a photographer and getting friend requests from photographers (maybe, similarly fake ones!)?? I always have been curious and have never really stopped pestering her to change that picture. I mean it's been a WHILE.. :P
The truth was discovered tonight, while I was on the phone...talking to her. As usual, the conversation moved to orkut and who-saw-what-on-whose-scrapbook... Then I asked her to change her archaic pic! This time (I think because she has some nice pictures of herself, post Rashi's wedding) she was quite receptive to the idea and veryyy sweetly she said, "accha, tell me one thing...how do I change my pic? I mean, I don't know how to, on Orkut!"
YES!! I was shocked, amazed, flabbergasted and infinitely amused. Being a good friend, I obviously gave her the instructions immediately. But seriously, Srin!! HOW could you not know!!!!! I mean...look around yourself...at your friends...we all believe in changing our profile pics a couple of times in a week!!! You should have asked that question aeons ago!

So, the bottomline is that we MIGHT see a new Orkut profile pic of Srin sometime in the near future...yes, there's still some hope, divas :) PLEASE Srin...for our sake! :P

To Rashi, With Love...

The Art Of A Good Marriage

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens. A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

Am Lovin' It :)

Ok I have to formally announce it here: you guys rock! This is a MUCH better way of knowing what's happening with each one of us than Orkut or Facebook (too cluttered with info and pics of some 400 people!). And yes, we can finally post ALL our JU pics (and the reunion ones too) right here. Oh, I can't wait for the masti, the masala and the magic (read gossip, gossip and more gossip) to come along soon! ;)

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to The Divas Rendezvous - a place to share, vent, create and rhapsodize. To chat, gossip, bitch (ah well!), rant, rave, laugh and generally have fun together. Most importantly, its a forum to experiment together and come up with gems - profound as well as prurient.

Rules are simple : at least one write-up/posting (of your choice) per week from each member. Occasionally we might decide and set up a specific theme. More inputs and suggestions required.

So come on gang - lets set the ball rolling and try to make this page more voluminous and colourful.

Hoping to see you all here soon! :)
